Arboricultural Impact Assessment – Considering the potential for damage to trees and hedges

Once your Pre-Development Tree Survey has been carried out and the associated tree constraints plan has been prepared, the next stage in complying with BS5837 Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction – Recommendations is the preparation of an Arboricultural Impact Assessment.

Using the information contained within the Pre-Development Tree Survey, Tree Constraints Plan and your architects’ drawings, I will undertake a detailed study of the development proposals to identify, evaluate and, if appropriate, advise on ways to reduce the direct and indirect impact of the proposals upon existing trees. I will consider tree removal and the development operations that could affect retained trees, such as the installation of services, changes in ground levels, removing existing hardstanding, access or storage of building materials.

The Arboricultural Impact Assessment will detail all the issues that need to be included within the Arboricultural Method Statement.

What I’ll need from you

If I wasn’t the tree consultant that carried out your Pre-Development Tree Survey, I’ll need a copy from you, together with the associated Tree Constraints Plan.

I will also need a copy of the development layout drawing that your architect has prepared for your project.

What you’ll receive from me

You’ll receive a detailed Arboricultural Impact Assessment including a Tree Removal/Retention Plan, a Tree Protection Plan, the specification of tree surgery works required for access facilitation and details of the issues that need to be included in the Arboricultural Method Statement.
